Two late goals gave Jill Ellis's side a 2-0 victory over Germany, who saw Celia Sasic miss a penalty with the game goalless
The United States have clinched a place in Sunday's Women's World Cup final after defeating Germany 2-0 in Montreal.
Second half goals from Carli Lloyd and Kelley O'Hara followed a missed penalty from Celia Sasic and meant Jill Ellis led the US to their fourth final in seven tournaments.
The first half saw German captain Nadine Angerer called into action twice, pulling off two superb saves from Alex Morgan, firstly from a corner and then after the Portland Thorns star was sent through on goal.
Inevitably, following two glaring misses, the US were punished as Julie Johnston dragged Alexandra Popp over in the box as the German stretched for a shot.
But, following a lengthy delay, the tournament's top goalscorer Celia Sasic sent her spot-kick wide to the relief of the majority of the 51,000 in attendance.
The miss seemed to take the wind out of Germany's sails and from here the US mounted waves of attacks primarily through the lively Morgan.
And on the 69th minute a driving run drew Annike Krahn into conceding a second penalty in the half that Lloyd converted powerfully.
Silvia Neid's side were forced to chase the game but with five minutes to go the US carved through the German defence with Lloyd crossing well for substitute O'Hara to prod home, double the lead and win the tie.
The US will meet one of Japan or England in Sunday's final in Vancouver and look to win the World Cup for the first time in 16 years.
